Outdoor exericse

With all this mild weather and beautiful sunny days it seems like winter was barely here. So ive already started planning my outdoor workouts for any of my clients ready to brave the local parks. Anyone got a group of friends who fancy working out together get in touch and we can organise a fitness boot camp!
In the interests of outdoor exericse the playground company Wicksteed Leisure are launching even more great outdoor fitness equipment. I am working with them to create some hard core circuits (with easy options dont worry!). Ill keep you posted on their progress and be posting up some photos and videos once the project is complete.
In the meantime, get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine. Use benches, trees, posts and anything else you can find to maximise your workout. Be inventive!

Bariatric surgery, exercise and nutrition

I have recently met a very inspirational man who had a gastric bypass a few years ago and is now running marathons - AMAZING! Im now training him for the London Marathon in April and its going great so far, his motivation is brilliant. However, he had been telling me how frustrated he was when he ran his first marathon at the lack of information/help/guidance on nutrition to help support bariatric patients when they want to under go extreme exercise, such as running a marathon.
So....i am now on a mission to create an exercise and sports specifc nutrition guide for the bariatric patient! ....in your book shops soon :)
If you know of anyone who has had the surgery, or have had it yourself please get in touch as i'd love to hear your story and find out what nutritional practices you have found work for you.

Park runs

Set out bright and early on Saturday morning for the Richmond 5k Park Run. There was a great bunch of people there of all ages and abilities. I would definitely recommend any keen runners out there to get involved - or even if you're just starting out running theres a good, friendly atmosphere to push you along. They do a 5k Park Run in lots of different parks around London, I'm thinking of trying out the Gunnersbury Park Run this Saturday. Get in contact if you want a running buddy and we can do one of the park runs together!

Braving the cold!

I was wondering when winter was going to arrive. My poor, freezing fingers felt the full force of it when i was cycling to meet my clients yesterday morning!
Dont let the cold weather put you off getting outdoors, especially since we are being gifted with some lovely sunshine. The sun is weak at this time of year so try to get out in it for some Vitamin D exposure between 11-3 and banish those winter blues. Wrap up warm and get out running, the air is particularly fresh in these conditions and the blast will make you feel 100000 x better! i certainly had a smile on my face after braving Hammersmith, Barnes and Chiswick bridge on my run this morning.
Participating in my first London Park Run this Saturday morning (fingers crossed for no snow!)
